The highlights of the season was attending one of the most whimsical New York Fashion Week Shows SELKIE The Ghost Ship ✨ Which they so generously dressed us for.
Created by founder and creative director Kimberly Gordon the goal ship takes silky signature, romantic fantasy, somewhere darker and more surreal, imagining a traveling pirate circus at the end of the world.
Think warrior girls, corset, silhouettes, theatrical dresses, Harlequin and Maritime references, chain mail, seashells, and wonderfully unexpected prints. All brought to life with a sense of storytelling and escapism that makes a selfish show feel like stepping into another universe.
What I continue to appreciate about @selkie is that the fantasy is created for so many different women. The brand is offering sizing from XXS through 6X, and its runway celebrates models across different shapes sizes and experiences.
This is the fashion week I want my daughter to celebrate and be associated with. Fashion can be imaginative, theatrical, and beautiful without belonging to only one body type.
